Child Safety Information

Choose from innovative child-safe solutions
to beautify your home safely

Recommended by CPSC - the best possible scenario is a cordless shade.

Chordless Child-safe cordless window treatments, shades and blinds

Child Safety: The home poses many hazards to young children. Did you know that one of them could be your window treatments? Window shade cords pose a strangulation risk to small children. The Chordless Ultra™ Hardware system operates without cords, eliminating these potential safety hazards for small children and pets too.

Beauty: The Chordless Ultra ™ Hardware system eliminates the visual distraction of cords, leaving your windows with clean, unobstructed views.

Fabrics: The Chordless Ultra™ Hardware system is available with Symphony® double honeycomb, Virtuoso™ and Baritone™ single honeycomb and Baritone™ blackout fabrics.

Operation: Precise movement is assured with the Chordless Ultra™ Hardware system. Shades are raised and lowered effortlessly, remaining level and equalized exactly where they are left. No matter what size the shade is, a gentle push or pull on the bottom rail is all that's required.

Comfortex Chordless Ultra™ shades are backed by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.

According to a US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) study, an estimated 359 deaths of infants and toddlers have occurred since 1981 due to accidental strangulation from pull cords for window coverings. As a result, CPSC has recommended eliminating the loop-end of the cord by cutting off the tassel, and installing tie-downs to hang cords up and out of the reach of children.Voluntary compliance with CPSC guidelines by manufacturers of window coverings has resulted in modifications to cord systems designed to reduce the chances of injury. However, a window shade cord in any configuration can still pose a threat.

In addition to providing guidelines for corded shades, the Window Covering Manufacturer's Association and ANSI regulations also "encourage the development of devices and methods that will further improve the safety of products manufactured by industry members." Comfortex Chordless shades exceed CPSC safety recommendations for cord modifications.Invented in 1996, instead of looking for way to make window treatment cords safer, Comfortex eliminated them all together. Comfortex Chordless shades provide peace of mind for families all across the country. By eliminating the cord, Comfortex has eliminated any possibility of accidental strangulation. Our exclusive CentriForce breaking clutch and a constant force spring motor provide precise movement and eliminates fear of choking or other cord hazards.

Beautiful and safe the Chordless System is available in palette of designer colors, including the purest white to stunning solids and prints.

Be aware that it is possible for children to strangle in window covering cords. To reduce the occurrence of accident, all cords must be kept out of the reach of children, including infants. Cord cleats are an effective way to implement this essential precaution.

Mount the cord cleat at a safe height, taking into account furniture or other objects upon which a child may climb. Then, after each use of the shade, simply wrap the excess cord around the cleat. It's fast, easy and safe.

To protect your children, we are pleased to provide cord cleats free of charge with every shade that we manufacture.

Cord Tensioner

The Consumer Product Safety Commission requires the use of a cord tie down (cord tensioner) on all continuous loop cord systems. The use of such a device is intended to significantly reduce the occurrence of infant or small child strangulation injuries or deaths resulting from the looped pull cords on various window treatment products.

The Cord Tensioner is installed on the Lift Cord of all continuous loop cord systems before packaging.
