ComforTrack Energy Saving Sidetrack Insulation System’s Performance is Verified by the Consortium for Advanced Residential Buildings MAPLEWOOD, NY - Comfortex Window Fashions, a leading manufacturer of custom window shades, is pleased to announce that testing completed by the Consortium for Advanced Residential Buildings (CARB) concluded that the ComforTrack Insulating Sidetrack System delivers significant energy savings performance. During the spring of 2010, CARB conducted and monitored the thermal performance of residential windows in Connecticut homes with and without ComforTrack System paired with Cellular Shades. The testing concluded that ComforTracks significantly reduced the energy loss in windows and reduced heat loss by providing an overall higher level of insulation. The testing demonstrated that ComforTrack Energy Saving Sidetracks reduced the amount of colder outdoor air from entering the room form outside, and reduced the warmer air from leaking out. In all windows tested, the calculated effective R-Values of window shades with ComforTrack sidetrack system were 2.5 to 3.0 times higher than the same shades without the sidetracks. The complete CARB test evaluation can be obtained here. “The ComforTrack Energy Saving Sidetrack Insulation System is certified for the Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficiency and this study reinforces the remarkable energy savings that can be achieved”, stated John C. Fitzgerald, Executive Vice-President of Comfortex. CARB, the Consortium for Advanced Residential Buildings, is one of six research teams working through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program to evaluate residential energy technologies; the ultimate goal is cost-effective “zero energy” homes.
